Hey all, Iβm Faheem. Iβm a woodworker based in the metro Atlanta area. I began woodworking in 2023 with a simple goal: to create custom picture frames for my own space. What started as a personal project quickly grew into a broader practice, and today my work includes cutting boards, charcuterie boards, boxes, tabletops, and coffee tables. My design philosophy is rooted in material led aesthetics. Rather than forcing a form, I allow the natural grain, live edge, and character of the wood to dictate the final design of any project. To achieve this, I utilize a blend of locally sourced Georgia hardwoods and premium, highly figured slabs from the Pacific Northwest, known for the scale and complexity required for heirloom quality furniture. The sculpted double rocking chair is among the rarest forms of studio furniture on the planet. Sam Maloof himself only produced 12 double rockers during his career, making it far less common than the iconic single rocker. Fireside Chats is my own handcrafted interpretation of that elusive design.
The frame is crafted from solid Cherry and accented with Brazilian Kingwood throughout half of the rocker's sleds. Every curve was sculpted by hand before receiving a hand rubbed Maloof style oil and varnish finish that restores the color of the wood.
β¨πΊπππππππππππ π©πππππ π»πππ π¬πππππππ The biggest surprise during this build wasn't how it looked.
It was how it rocks.
Despite its size, the chair glides effortlessly with no hitching, wandering, or side deflection. The long laminated sleds create an incredibly smooth motion. The sheer weight of the oversized headrest naturally encourages the chair back into its rocking rhythm.
Even more surprising is that it is just as enjoyable with one person as it is with two.
One person has plenty of room to stretch out or share the chair with a pet, while two adults can comfortably enjoy it together.

The sleds are reinforced with tenons.
This is not CNC produced furniture or factory made seating.
No templates were used to mass produce components.
Each curve was refined by hand until the chair both looked and felt right.
The result is a functional piece of studio furniture intended to be enjoyed for generations.
