Ember Howl
Ember Howl is carved from a substantial Texas pecan cookie, defined by its natural perimeter and a small internal void formed through decay and time. Rather than removing this cavity, the void was preserved and stabilized with a black epoxy pour, transforming it into a striking character feature. When illuminated, light activates the core from within, revealing layered growth rings and warm tonal shifts in the surrounding pecan—copper, honey, and deep amber. The contrast between solid mass and illuminated absence gives the work its visual tension, allowing light to read as an internal presence rather than a surface effect. Anchored on a brushed stainless-steel base, Ember Howl operates as a horizontal light sculpture—quiet in stance, intense in depth—defined by containment, glow, and material memory. Each Arte LUMIS piece is one-of-a-kind.
