3.5" Naturally Weathered, Spaulted and Formerly Occupied Oak Sphere

Discover the exquisite tension between nature’s decay and sculptural elegance with the Spaulted & Worm-Eaten Woodturned Sphere.

Sculpted from a single block of naturally aged timber, this piece celebrates the captivating story written by time itself. Striking black spaulting lines—the delicate, marbled ink marks left by wild fungi—trace across the grain in intricate, flowing patterns. Woven through this natural canvas are authentic, winding worm galleries, carved out over years to reveal the raw, unrepeatable history of the forest.

Artistry in Every Detail:

Impeccable Spherical Precision: Hand-turned on the lathe into a smooth, balanced geometric form that contrasts dramatically with the wild, weathered character of the wood.

Textural Contrast: Tactile worm channels and rich spalted grain create a captivating play between shadow and light, inviting both visual admiration and physical touch.

Natural Matte Finish: Sealed with non-toxic, wood sealant to preserve the timber's natural tactile warmth without obscuring its dramatic aging marks.

Statement Display Piece: Perfectly suited for a minimalist plinth, executive desk, or gallery shelf, bringing a grounded, earthy sophistication to any interior setting.

No two spheres can ever exist in duplicate. Each feature is a monument to the beauty of impermanence, transformation, and artistic revival.
