Moon Surface Walnut Wall Art

74.30838 — Equator Series

74.30838 is a one-of-one wall sculpture made from a single, solid piece of walnut measuring 96in x 14in representing the Moon's surface at longitude 74.30838 along the lunar equator.

The piece was made using detailed lidar mapping data of the Moon's surface, translating the actual lunar topography into solid walnut. The natural grain and rich tones of the wood provide a contrast to the precision of the original mapping data, bringing together modern technology and traditional woodworking.

The sculpture is mounted on a purpose-built steel frame, providing stability and concealed mounting points for secure wall hanging. 74.30838 is an original, one-of-one work. It is the only example and will never be made again.
