#01 Hearthstone — Oregon Black Walnut C-Table

This C-table is built around a two-and-a-half-inch-thick block of Oregon black walnut, sourced from Goby Walnut in the Pacific Northwest. The slab was selected for its figure — the warm amber and deep brown chatoyance that shifts color across the surface as the light moves. At over two inches thick, the top reads more like a small architectural block than a furniture top. The live edge wraps the perimeter on three sides, carrying the character of the tree all the way around.

–––––– Hand-finished with Rubio Monocoat European Oil, applied by hand. Built on a powder-coated steel C-frame designed to slide alongside a sofa or chair, with the slim profile of the base giving the heavy top room to do the visual work. One of one.

CONSTRUCTION & CRAFT Built by Black Walnut Studio in Madison, Wisconsin. Oregon black walnut slab acclimated and flattened before machining. Finished with a hand-applied natural-oil hardwax that bonds with the wood fibers rather than sitting on top of them. The base is a powder-coated steel C-frame, profiled to disappear under the visual weight of the slab.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS Wipe with a damp cloth; avoid harsh cleaners and abrasive pads. For spot repair or annual refresh, apply Rubio Monocoat Oil+2C with a clean cloth — no sanding required. Keep room humidity reasonably stable (35–55%) to let the wood do what wood does.
