4 Elements Series - Kumiko Lamp (Cherry)

The 4 instruments series is a testament to quality items done simply and with purpose. When creating with the 4 instruments there are a few principles to apply: use solid wood, test fit everything, take small bites, and don’t worry about exact measurements. Your eyes will appreciate the wisps of asymmetry that live in the corners. The 4 instruments series is made with lumber milled from logs that were salvaged from a burn pit at the recycling plant. These pieces are cleaned just enough to be stabile in their new conformation while retaining the entire lived memory of the tree. The lamps feature a simple kumiko design which brings a slight decadence to an otherwise utilitarian object and facilitates plenty of light diffusion. This small detail looks good as a solo panel (The Chisel, The Kanna) and a stacked panel (The Mallet, The Saw). Included is a warm light LED bulb, and a standard light socket secured to the base. The Chisel and Kanna ship with a standard length lightbulb, while the Mallet and Saw feature beautiful extra long Edison bulbs at 11” and 15” for increased lighting capacity. Please note that each item is built to order, by hand, and will ship at slower than average speeds. Normal lead times for The Chisel and The Kanna are under a week, while The Mallet and The Saw lead around 2-3 weeks.
