Top Seller on MakerBook — 2 months running Tables and desks as functional art, built from rare Pacific Northwest walnut — Bastogne, Claro, Oregon black. The most beautiful domestic wood most people have never seen. I pick troubled slabs on purpose, for the grain and voids mass-produced walnut never has. Every choice — wood, dimensions, finish — serves the piece, not convenience. 20+ years at the bench. Every piece custom, one of one. Past work and commissions: black-walnut-studio.com

Twin Banks — Cherry Burl Live-Edge Wall Art
A single cherry burl, split and set to face itself across open space.
——- Live-edge work usually fills a channel like this — a resin river. This piece opens up, and the wall behind it becomes the river. The two halves from the same Burl hold their natural edges toward each other, with black resin settled into the voids where the wood opened up.
—— The cherry burl was salvaged from here in Southern Wisconsin. The Jatoba frame — its deep red a deliberate counter to the cherry’s pale figure — was built by Faheem Woodworks, who I collaborate with on framed pieces like this one.
——- One of one. 18″ H × 15″ W. Finished in European hardwax oil. Wall art, not furniture — but the same idea behind everything I make: wood worth saving, given a second life.
