Father of two, Iraq War veteran David Gregory Lollar’s journey is one of resilience, artistry, and transformation. After serving his country in Iraq, David returned home determined to channel his discipline and creativity into woodworking. He began crafting river tables in 2018, quickly establishing himself as a skilled artisan in blending natural wood and epoxy to create functional art. For several years, David worked with Cured Resins, a commercial woodworking company based in Orlando, specializing in live-edge table design and epoxy repairs. At Cured Resins, he refined his craft, building a reputation for turning exotic woods, like Guanacaste Perota, into stunning dining tables that were both timeless and innovative. In 2024, David decided to take a bold step in his career. Fueled by a desire to create more personalized, artistic pieces and reconnect with the roots of his craft, he left the commercial world to move his workshop back home. His new focus is on small-scale, artistic woodworking projects that emphasize storytelling through natural imperfections, live edges, and the interplay of wood and resin. His home shop, a 170-square-foot space, doubles as a creative sanctuary and content studio, where David shares his process and expertise with a growing online community. With plans to make YouTube videos, he hopes to inspire other veterans and woodworking enthusiasts to explore the artistry and therapeutic value of the craft. David’s transition to independent artistry represents a renewed focus on passion over production, allowing him to honor his personal values while delivering unique, handcrafted works of art.

“Grains” Black Walnut Side Table w/carved base
Black Walnut Live Edge Side Table with Resin Inlay and Carved Pedestal Base This stunning one-of-a-kind side table is handcrafted from a thick, solid black walnut slab, showcasing the extraordinary natural beauty of the wood. The live edge top preserves the tree’s original organic contour, complete with natural cracks and a dramatic central void that has been artfully filled with deep, glossy black epoxy resin. The resin creates a striking “river” or “pool” effect that contrasts beautifully with the warm chocolate-brown tones and intricate grain patterns of the walnut. Key Features: • Top: Solid black walnut slice with rich, swirling grain, medullary rays, and heartwood variation. The irregular live edge gives each piece its unique character. • Resin Inlay: A large, naturally occurring hole and accompanying cracks have been stabilized and filled with high-gloss black resin, adding depth, durability, and a modern artistic touch. • Base: Custom carved walnut pedestal with a stable square platform base and gracefully shaped central column, finished to complement the top. • Finish: Hand-rubbed oil and protective clear coat that enhances the wood’s natural luster while providing everyday durability. The table measures approximately 18–22 inches in diameter (varies due to live edge) and stands at a comfortable side-table height. Its organic shape, rich color, and bold resin accent make it a perfect statement piece for a living room, reading nook, cabin, or modern interior. Every detail—from the carefully chosen slab to the hand-shaped base—reflects thoughtful craftsmanship that celebrates the natural imperfections and beauty of the wood. This piece is not only functional furniture but a true work of art.
