Ridgeline Big Leaf Maple Burl C-Table

This C-table is cut from a single piece of Pacific Northwest big leaf maple burl — split in two, with its only sibling, Timberline, listed alongside it. Burl is the tree's stress response: dormant buds erupting all at once, grain running in every direction instead of with the trunk. The voids that come with that kind of growth are filled in black resin, poured full-field across the surface, so the figure stays the only thing you're looking at.

Finished by hand in European hardwax oil, which soaks into the wood rather than sitting on top of it — a scratch years from now is a spot repair, not a refinish. Built on a powder-coated steel C-frame, matte black, that slides alongside a sofa or chair, its slim profile giving the burl room to do the visual work. CONSTRUCTION & CRAFT

Built by Black Walnut Studio, LLC in Madison, Wisconsin. The burl slab was flattened and the voids poured full-field in black resin before final shaping. Finished with a hand-applied natural-oil hardwax that bonds with the wood fibers rather than sitting on top of them. The base is a powder-coated steel C-frame, matte black, profiled to disappear under the visual weight of the top.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Wipe with a damp cloth; avoid harsh cleaners and abrasive pads. For spot repair or annual refresh, apply a fresh coat of European hardwax oil with a clean cloth — no sanding required. Keep room humidity reasonably stable (35–55%) to let the wood do what wood does.
